Goodwill programs encourage education and literacy in young adults.
GOOD BOOKS
Funded by the legendary music producer, Pharrell Williams and NIKE, Good Books provides a forum for young people to explore the literary world. Participants are encouraged to read from a variety of works to help them develop their vocabulary, reading comprehension, critical thinking, and writing skills. Students participate in events that include college tours, read-a-thons, book fairs and a trip to the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C.

Goodwill’s Diane Armstrong Family Learning Center provides educational and training services for children, youth, and adults from the Astoria communities’ thanks in part to funding from the JP Morgan Chase Foundation.
Goodwill’s Flagship Family Learning Center was developed in 1998 to help fill the education and training void that existed in the Two Coves community. Services include:
- Afterschool, summer camp, and library for children
- Computer training, ESL classes, financial literacy workshops, and immigrant services for youth and adults.
